The Role of Theta and Alpha Oscillations in Emerging Psychosis

The study "The Role of Theta and Alpha Oscillations in Emerging Psychosis" aims to use electroencephalography (EEG) to better understand certain cognitive processes that are frequently disturbed in schizophrenic psychoses. By deriving event-related potentials and applying state-of-the-art EEG analysis techniques, the study will help to clarify the neurophysiological correlates of a potentially deficient integration of contextual information, self-control and stimulus gating in first-episode and at-risk patients. The study is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation and is carried out as part of the doctoral project of MSc Avinash Ramyead between 1 March 2014 and 29 February 2016.
